Privacy Policy

Sousbook is a recipe manager provided by Randy Torres under the RandyVentures name. This policy covers the Sousbook app and these Sousbook support pages. You do not need a Sousbook account.

Your recipes and photos

Recipes, notes, selected photos, grocery lists and preferences are stored on your device. Where iCloud sync is configured and available, cookbook data can also be stored in your private iCloud database through Apple. We do not operate a hosted recipe database or receive your private cookbook through our own server. Apple's services and account settings govern iCloud storage and backups.

Text recognition from photos and camera scans, recipe parsing and optional Apple on-device model processing happen on your device. Sousbook does not send your recipe text or photos to an external AI service. You choose the photos or scans to import; the app does not upload your entire photo library.

Website imports and sharing

When you import a web link, your device requests the page from that website. The website and its infrastructure receive normal connection information, such as your IP address and request details, under their own policies. Sousbook retains a structured personal recipe copy and source URL rather than saving the downloaded raw web page. Links or text sent through the share extension may remain in a local queue until import succeeds. When you share a recipe from Sousbook, the destination you choose receives the content you share.

Purchases and RevenueCat

Apple processes payments. Sousbook uses Apple's verified purchase information to provide Pro access and restoration. We do not receive your payment card number. RevenueCat receives purchase records and an automatically generated app user identifier to support purchase validation, restoration and subscription reporting. Records can include product and transaction identifiers, purchase dates, subscription status and associated technical information such as app, system and SDK versions. Connection information is processed when communicating with these services.

We do not supply RevenueCat with your cookbook, email address, name or advertising identifier through the app. Its generated identifier is not connected to a Sousbook login. We can view purchase history and subscription reporting in RevenueCat. The app has no advertising SDK or cross-app advertising tracking; purchase reporting is its only integrated analytics service.

Permissions and notifications

Camera access is used when you scan a recipe. Photo selection gives the app the items you choose. Notification permission is requested when you start a cooking timer. Timer alerts are scheduled locally and may show recipe or step information on your lock screen, depending on your iOS notification settings. You can change permissions in iOS Settings.

Support information

If you email or call support, we receive the contact details and information you choose to provide, including any attachments. We use these to respond, investigate problems and handle privacy or purchase requests. Email is handled through Gmail. Please omit payment details, passwords, medical information and private recipe content unless needed to explain your request. Support correspondence is separate from the app's anonymous purchase reporting.

These web pages

These pages are hosted on GitHub Pages. Hosting providers process ordinary connection and access information to deliver and protect the site. The site's fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives the web requests needed to deliver them. A display-theme preference may be stored in your browser. We have not added advertising trackers or analytics to these Sousbook pages.

Retention, deletion and your choices

You can edit or delete recipes and grocery items in the app. Deletions may sync to other devices when iCloud is available. Deletion records used for synchronization, device or iCloud backups, and preserved files from older app storage may remain after an item is removed from the visible library. Deleting the app is not a guarantee that iCloud data, backups or purchase records are erased, and does not cancel an Apple subscription. Manage iCloud storage and backups through your Apple account settings.

Support correspondence and purchase records are retained as needed to provide support and purchase functionality, meet legal requirements, resolve disputes and prevent fraud. Retention also depends on Apple, RevenueCat and email-provider processes. Contact us for access, correction or deletion requests concerning data we or our processors hold. We may need limited information to verify your request and locate a purchase record; we cannot directly read or recover your private iCloud cookbook. We will explain any legal or technical limits on deletion.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights, including the right to complain to a relevant authority. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Service providers may process information in the United States or other countries. No storage or transmission system is completely secure.

Children and changes

Sousbook is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can address it. We will update this page when our practices change and provide any additional notice required by law.
