Beige Box is an iOS app with five original pretend computers from earlier eras. By using the app, you agree to use it lawfully and in accordance with these terms and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement.
What the app includes
The app includes five computers: HOMEROOM 82, STUDIO 86, BEIGE BOX, candy 99 and tide 00. The desktops include programs to browse the web, write, draw, program in BASIC, manage your files, and visit the local BeigeNet demonstration. HOMEROOM 82 uses a text-mode prompt and browser. All five can play Worm, Breakwater and Pairs. The computers, their names, sounds and artwork are original designs. They are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or copies of any real computer or computer maker.
The one-time unlock
Beige Box is free to download and lets you pick a computer. Using the computers requires a single non-consumable in-app purchase. It is not a subscription and does not renew. It unlocks all five computers and any computers added to the app in later updates. The unlock supports Apple Family Sharing.
The price shown in the App Store for your region is the price that applies. Purchases are made through Apple, and Apple's terms govern payment, billing and refunds. Refunds are requested from Apple; this app cannot issue them. Nothing in these terms limits refund or consumer rights you have under the law where you live.
Buying and restoring need an internet connection. After the unlock is confirmed on your device, the computers work offline, except for web browsing. If a purchase is refunded or revoked, paid access ends. Your files are not deleted when that happens.
Restoring a purchase
Restore on the unlock screen restores access on a device signed in to the Apple Account that bought the unlock, or a Family Sharing member's account. It does not restore deleted files, and it is not a backup.
Browsing the web
Surf displays live third-party websites using WebKit on the four desktop computers. HOMEROOM 82 shows pages as text. The developer does not control those websites and is not responsible for their content, accuracy or availability, which may include material you find offensive. Some sites may restrict embedded browsers or require sign-in, and video availability depends on the website. Use a regular browser for banking, payments, or anything important. Your use of each website is governed by that website's own terms. Searches are provided by DuckDuckGo.
Your files
Documents, programs and pictures you make are yours. This app claims no ownership of them and does not upload them. They are stored on your device, so they can be lost if the app is deleted, the device is lost, or its storage fails. Deleting a file in My Disk is immediate and cannot be undone. You can use Export or the Files app to keep copies; the app does not operate a cloud backup.
The BeigeNet bulletin board
BeigeNet is currently a local demonstration on your device, not a shared message board. Its welcome posts are sample messages included with the app, not posts from other people. Messages you post stay on your device, are not seen by anyone else, and are cleared when the app is fully closed.
Acceptable use
Do not use the app to break the law, to harass anyone, or to access or share content you have no right to access or share. You are responsible for what you create, type, and visit in the app.
The app and its content
The app, its computers, built-in programs, sounds and artwork remain the property of the developer. You may use them within the app. Please do not copy or republish them as your own product.
Availability and changes
Features and content may change as the app develops. The app is provided as it is, without a promise that it will be uninterrupted or error free. To the extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for lost files or for indirect losses arising from use of the app or of third-party websites opened in it. If these terms change, the date above will change.
